One clear focus.
Identify each note on the staff. Write its letter name on the line.
Choose the clef, note range, and number of notes. Add a note-name bank or print a separate teacher answer key.
A simple way to teach it
- Select treble clef and start with spaces only or lines only. Keep the word bank visible when introducing the task.
- Model counting from the bottom of the staff. Ask students to point to the line or space before writing a letter.
- Move to mixed notes when students can explain their process. Use New note set to make another practice sheet.
Take it a little further
Have students draw a note on a named staff position, then exchange papers with a partner who identifies it.
Adapt before printing.
Open the starter, choose the grade band, then check the reading level and answer space for your class. Each printed page is US Letter. Choose 100% print scale and turn off browser headers and footers.
